Sofia Borlotti Beans 400g

Sofia is an Italian brand producing quality beans. 

The borlotti bean, which looks similar to the pinto bean, is a variety of the cranberry bean bred in Italy to have a thicker skin. It is used in Italian, Portuguese (Catarino bean), Turkish, and Greek cuisine.

It is a variety of common bean first bred in Colombia as the cargamanto and is also known as the cranberry bean, Roman bean, romano bean, saluggia bean, gadhra bean or rosecoco bean. The bean is a medium to large tan or hazelnut-colored bean splashed or streaked with red, magenta or black. 

They are nutritional powerhouses packed with low-fat protein, fibre, b-vitamins such as folate, and minerals such as iron, zinc and potassium. Pulses generally contain a wide range of cancer-fighting plant chemicals, specifically, isoflavones and phytosterols which are associated with reduced cancer risk.
